Denmark is stepping up its fight against illegal iGaming. In its largest enforcement action to date, the Danish Gambling Authority (DGA) has secured court approval to block 178 unlicensed gambling websites—a historic high since DNS blocking began in 2012.

This landmark decision, handed down by the Frederiksberg court on 26 June, mandates local ISPs to block websites targeting Danish users without the required licence. Among the blocked platforms is BetUS, alongside a high volume of mirror sites, including 76 clones of Verde Casino.

This action follows a significant policy shift by the DGA, which now initiates blocking procedures twice a year, enhancing speed and regulatory coverage. Since 2012, a total of 616 sites have been blocked—demonstrating Denmark’s tightening grip on gambling compliance.

DGA Director Anders Dorph highlighted how enhanced monitoring and legal coordination are enabling faster interventions and stronger consumer protection. Indicators of illegal activity include Danish-language interfaces, local sports betting offers, and Danish payment methods.

As Denmark pushes ahead with aggressive enforcement, this serves as a clear message to unlicensed operators: compliance is not optional.
