Hanzbet, a popular Brazilian betting brand, will cease operations by July 31, 2025, after a highly public dispute with its licence holder, EA Entretenimento e Esportes Ltda (EA).
Hanzbet founder Eduardo Peres has accused EA of running a “true operational dictatorship”, alleging that:
- His team was removed from all communication and decision-making
- Payments to affiliates, suppliers, and partners were frozen
- EA allegedly redirected Hanzbet users to its other brand BateuBet
- Customers were told to withdraw funds, but liquidity was drained, leaving many unable to access their balances
Peres warns other operators working under parent-company licences in Brazil to tread carefully, as these structures give licence holders extensive control over funds and operations, despite partnership agreements. While Hanzbet hinted at a possible comeback with a new structure, this incident has intensified industry concerns about trust, transparency, and regulatory protections in Brazil’s rapidly growing iGaming sector.
