South Korea’s only locals casino, Kangwon Land, has announced that its second gaming hall will now open in early 2028, a year later than originally planned. Located in a remote highland area 150km from Seoul, the operator is undergoing a KRW2.5 trillion (USD $1.9 billion) transformation into a luxury integrated resort.

The new gaming floor will feature 50 additional tables and 250 machines, while the total casino space will expand by 40%. Betting limits in the foreigners-only area are also increasing by 1,000%. As part of a larger pivot to reduce dependency on gaming, the resort will introduce non-gaming attractions like wellness centers, walking trails, and a sky bridge to the nearby High1 Ski & Golf Resort.

Kangwon Land is positioning itself not just against domestic challenges, but also against foreigner-only rivals like Paradise City and Inspire.
