Light & Wonder has taken a pivotal step in its global expansion strategy by obtaining its first iGaming accreditation in the Philippines, granted by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR). This accreditation allows the company to legally operate in the country’s regulated digital gaming sector, marking its entry into one of Asia’s most dynamic markets.

The Philippines has become a standout growth story in iGaming, with gross gaming revenue from electronic games rising from PHP58.16 billion ($1.03 billion) in 2023 to PHP154.51 billion ($2.73 billion) in 2024. In the first half of 2025 alone, eGames generated PHP114.83 billion ($2.07 billion), surpassing revenue from traditional land-based casinos. PAGCOR has implemented stricter advertising rules, enhanced KYC processes, and AI-powered monitoring systems to ensure compliance and player protection while supporting sustainable industry growth.

Light & Wonder’s strategy leverages its strong land-based presence, bringing popular titles into the online environment while connecting jackpots across physical and digital platforms. Through its aggregation model, operators in the Philippines will gain access to over 5,000 games from more than 100 providers. The company has also established an office in Clark and built a local team to oversee operations and strengthen its regional footprint.

According to PAGCOR Chairman Alejandro H. Tengco, the goal is not just growth, but growth achieved responsibly, fairly, and transparently. He emphasized that banning online gaming would only push players to illegal operators, weakening regulation and reducing state revenues.

With additional partnerships across Asia and Latin America, Light & Wonder’s accreditation in the Philippines positions it to play a leading role in shaping regulated iGaming markets worldwide. This milestone underscores both the company’s expansion strategy and the Philippines’ potential to become a hub for the Asian gaming industry.
