Spain’s online gambling market continued its strong growth trajectory in the second quarter of 2025, with gross gaming revenue rising to €410.3 million, according to figures released by the Directorate General for Gambling Regulation (DGOJ). The result represents an 18.5% year-on-year increase and a 2.8% rise compared to Q1 of this year.

The online casino sector remained the dominant vertical, generating €216.4 million in revenue and accounting for 52.7% of the total market. Growth was particularly strong in slot games, which surged by 33.6% year-on-year. Sports betting also delivered a solid performance, with revenue climbing 18.2% to €171.4 million, representing 41.8% of the overall market share. In contrast, poker and bingo both experienced declines, recording €19.1 million and €3.4 million respectively.

Key financial indicators also highlighted the sector’s continued strength. Total deposits reached €1.35 billion, up 23.7% compared to Q2 2024, while player withdrawals increased by 28.9% to €962.9 million. New player accounts grew by 11.7% year-on-year to over 500,000, although this was down slightly from Q1 levels. Marketing spend surged by 37.1%, reflecting heightened competition and investment in customer acquisition.

By the close of the quarter, 77 licensed operators were active in Spain, with online casino and sports betting accounting for the majority of activity. Of these, 64 operators maintained at least one active license, underlining the breadth and competitiveness of the Spanish market.

The Q2 results confirm Spain’s position as one of Europe’s most dynamic regulated online gambling markets, with strong consumer demand and continued growth in key verticals. The performance sets a positive outlook for the remainder of 2025 as operators prepare for the challenges and opportunities of an evolving market.
