Bally’s Intralot Announces Executive Transition as Nikolakopoulos Shifts to Non-Executive Role

Bally’s Intralot Leadership Shift as Nikolakopoulos Steps Down | iGaming News Today

Bally’s Intralot S.A. has announced a leadership transition that will see long-time executive Nikos Nikolakopoulos step down from his operational role as President of Lotteries.

The change forms part of a broader executive reshuffle aimed at maintaining operational continuity while redistributing leadership responsibilities within the lottery and gaming technology provider operating in the global iGaming industry and casino industry.
The company was formed following the €2.7 billion combination of Intralot and Bally’s International Interactive, as detailed in Intralot Completes €2.7B Bally’s Merger to Form Global Giant – a transaction financed through a €660 million funding package secured ahead of the deal, as outlined in Intralot Secures €660 Million to Acquire Bally’s Interactive.

Nikolakopoulos exits executive role after two decades

Nikolakopoulos will step down from his executive position effective 16 March 2026, concluding more than 20 years of leadership involvement within the company’s lottery business and broader iGaming industry ecosystem.

While leaving day-to-day operations, he will remain on the board as a Non-Executive Director, allowing the company to retain institutional knowledge and strategic oversight during the transition.

During his tenure, Nikolakopoulos helped develop Bally’s Intralot’s lottery operations and expand its presence across the global lottery technology market and the wider casino industry technology landscape.

Sfatos expands remit across lottery division

Following the transition, Chrysostomos Sfatos will assume the additional title of President, Lotteries alongside his existing responsibilities as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Board Member.

The consolidation places the lottery division under a single operational leader, aligning product delivery, commercial execution, and operator partnerships across the iGaming industry and lottery platform segment.

The company said the leadership adjustment is intended to support strategic growth, operational execution, and long-term value creation within the casino industry technology sector.

CEO highlights continuity during leadership transition

Commenting on the change, Robeson Reeves, CEO and Executive Board Member of Bally’s Intralot – appointed following the company’s post-acquisition leadership restructuring, as outlined in Intralot Names Robeson Reeves as New Group CEO – thanked Nikolakopoulos for his long-standing contribution to the business and the wider lottery industry.

Reeves said the new leadership structure will build on the executive’s legacy while supporting the company’s strategic priorities across lottery technology and the casino industry.
CEO Robeson Reeves stated: “I would like to thank Nikos for his dedication and invaluable contribution to the company’s growth and the wider lottery community ecosystem over the past 20 years, and I count on his continuing support. The new leadership team is committed to building on his legacy and advancing our strategic priorities to ensure a strong outlook.”

Strategic implications for the lottery supplier

Leadership transitions at lottery technology providers are closely watched by public lottery operators and government partners due to the long-term nature of lottery contracts and platform integrations.

By retaining Nikolakopoulos on the board while expanding Sfatos’ operational authority, Bally’s Intralot is maintaining governance continuity while streamlining decision-making across the lottery division and its wider role in the iGaming industry.

For lottery operators relying on Bally’s Intralot platforms, the change signals leadership stability rather than structural disruption, with existing operational leadership remaining in place within the evolving casino industry technology landscape.
