Colombia Logs 245K Online Gambling Self-Exclusions

Colombia’s regulated online gambling market recorded 245,199 voluntary self-exclusion requests between 2024 and 2025, according to official data released by Coljuegos. The figures show growing use of formal responsible gambling tools across licensed platforms.
Self-Exclusion System Strengthens Market Controls
The self-exclusion mechanism allows players to block access to licensed operators using their national identification number. This ensures enforcement across all regulated platforms.
Coljuegos President Marco Emilio Hincapié said the data reflects joint efforts between the regulator and operators to promote responsible gambling.
“We have been implementing the ‘Take Control, Play It Safe’ campaign to inform players about the risks and consequences of uncontrolled gambling. Our purpose is to promote gambling as entertainment, not addiction,” Hincapié said.
All 14 authorized online operators in Colombia provide embedded self-exclusion tools. These systems link player identity to account blocking and support centralized compliance monitoring.
Demographic and Regional Breakdown
Men account for 81% of total applications, while women represent 19%. The data highlights a clear gender gap in voluntary exclusion uptake.
Regionally, Antioquia leads registrations in 2025 with 21.39%, followed by Bogotá at 19.07%. Valle del Cauca, Atlántico, and Santander also report significant volumes. These trends broadly align with population density and digital betting activity.
Compliance and Commercial Impact
The volume of registrations shows deeper adoption of regulator-backed protection tools in one of Latin America’s most developed online gambling markets.
For licensed operators, the figures underline rising expectations around identity verification, automated blocking systems, audit-ready reporting, and ongoing responsible gambling monitoring.
As global scrutiny of gambling-related harm increases, Colombia’s structured oversight model strengthens its position as a compliance benchmark within the LATAM iGaming sector.
