Michigan Regulator Approves FanDuel Entry into Multi-State Online Poker Network

Michigan Gaming Control Board Approves FanDuel for Multi-State Online Poker | iGaming News Today

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), the state’s official gaming regulatory authority, has approved FanDuel to offer multi-state internet poker in Michigan. The decision allows the operator to connect Michigan players with players located in Pennsylvania and New Jersey through the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA).

The approval took effect on April 1, 2026 and enables FanDuel to participate in interstate poker networks that combine player pools across multiple regulated jurisdictions.

According to the MGCB, the authorization followed a comprehensive regulatory review confirming that FanDuel meets all licensing, compliance, and operational standards required to provide multi-state online poker within Michigan’s regulated gaming market.

PokerStars Platform to Power Michigan Operations

Under the approved structure, FanDuel will operate the poker platform in Michigan using the PokerStars brand, leveraging the platform’s established technology and network capabilities.

The PokerStars platform provides the infrastructure needed to support interstate poker liquidity across participating states, allowing players from multiple jurisdictions to compete within a shared network.

MotorCity Casino will serve as the official land-based operator partner for the product in Michigan. This partnership structure reflects the state’s regulated online gaming framework, where licensed digital operators collaborate with approved casino partners to provide online gaming services.

MGCB Highlights Regulatory Oversight

MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams said that FanDuel is a well-established operator within Michigan’s regulated gaming market, emphasizing that the board’s oversight ensures players can have confidence in the integrity and fairness of online poker games offered in the state.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board continues to oversee licensing, compliance monitoring, and responsible gaming standards for operators participating in Michigan’s online gaming industry.

FanDuel’s Presence in the U.S. Online Gaming Market

FanDuel is one of the leading online gaming and sports betting operators in the United States. The company offers sportsbook, casino, and daily fantasy sports products across multiple regulated states and has established a significant presence in the U.S. iGaming market. The company operates within the broader U.S. gambling ecosystem, which has grown into a market generating more than $100 billion annually.

In Michigan, FanDuel already operates online sportsbook and casino products under the state’s regulated gaming framework. The state’s digital gaming sector has also shown strong growth in recent months, with Michigan’s regulated iGaming market generating significant monthly revenue. The addition of multi-state online poker further expands the company’s digital gaming portfolio within the state.

Interstate Poker Liquidity Expands Through MSIGA

Michigan joined the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement in 2022, enabling the state to participate in interstate online poker networks with member states including Delaware, Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

Before joining MSIGA, online poker players located in Michigan could only compete against others within the state. The agreement allows operators such as FanDuel to combine player pools across jurisdictions, significantly expanding the available player base.

Shared liquidity supports larger tournaments, higher prize pools, and improved game availability across regulated poker networks in the United States.
