Tipico Joins EGBA to Strengthen European Cooperation, Player Protection and Gambling Standards
The move strengthens EGBA’s presence in Germany and reinforces joint efforts on player protection, regulatory alignment, and the fight against illegal gambling.
Tipico is joining the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA), marking a significant step in strengthening industry cooperation within Europe’s regulated online gambling sector. The membership is positioning Tipico more closely alongside leading European operators at a time when regulatory expectations, consumer protection standards, and enforcement activity are continuing to intensify across multiple jurisdictions.
By becoming an EGBA member, Tipico is actively participating in collective initiatives that aim to raise standards across the online gambling industry. The operator is beginning its involvement in EGBA’s working groups, where members are shaping common approaches on safer gambling measures, responsible advertising practices, and anti-money laundering (AML) frameworks. These areas are increasingly central to regulatory discussions as authorities across Europe push for higher levels of transparency, accountability, and player protection from licensed operators.
Germany represents one of Europe’s largest and most strategically important gambling markets, and Tipico’s membership significantly strengthens EGBA’s representation in German-speaking jurisdictions. The addition of a major domestic operator brings practical, market-level insight into policy discussions, particularly as Germany continues to refine its national regulatory framework and address challenges linked to channelisation and black-market competition.
From Tipico’s perspective, EGBA membership reflects a clear commitment to regulatory excellence and responsible operations. Commenting on the development, Jochen Weiner, Director of Public Policy at Tipico, said the company is looking forward to contributing its expertise to EGBA’s work. He emphasised that the partnership aligns with Tipico’s focus on promoting high industry standards and supporting efforts to combat illegal online gambling across Europe.
EGBA has also highlighted the strategic importance of Tipico’s arrival. Maarten Haijer, Secretary General of EGBA, welcomed Tipico as a strong addition to the association’s growing membership at the start of 2026. He noted that Tipico’s experience as Germany’s leading online gambling operator brings valuable expertise that will reinforce EGBA’s collective work toward a well-regulated and sustainable European gambling market.
As regulatory oversight continues to evolve, cross-border cooperation is becoming increasingly important. While gambling regulation remains largely national, many of the challenges faced by regulators and operators such as digital compliance, advertising standards, AML controls, and responsible gambling enforcement are shared across markets. EGBA’s role as a platform for dialogue between operators, policymakers, and regulators is therefore growing in importance.
Looking ahead, Tipico’s participation in EGBA is supporting broader industry efforts to promote consumer trust, reduce the appeal of unlicensed operators, and encourage balanced regulation that protects players while allowing licensed businesses to compete effectively. The partnership underscores a shared commitment to long-term sustainability, responsible growth, and higher standards across Europe’s online gambling sector.
