In an exclusive interview with iGaming News Today, Booming Games CFO Luke discusses the company’s evolution, the expanding role of financial leadership, and how the studio is positioning itself for continued growth in the global iGaming market.

To explore how the company scaled its operations and how finance plays a strategic role in guiding long-term growth, iGaming News Today spoke exclusively with Luke, who has been part of Booming Games’ journey for more than eight years and was recently appointed Chief Financial Officer at Booming Games .

Can you briefly introduce yourself and explain your journey with Booming Games?

Luke:

I’ve been with Booming Games for over eight years. When I joined, the company had about 20–30 employees, and today we have grown to over 200 people. I’ve seen the company evolve from a startup into an established gaming studio.
During this time, the business evolved significantly in scale and complexity. Our finance team has also developed significantly and manages multiple companies across different jurisdictions. Our focus is now on achieving ambitious growth targets.

How is the role of finance changing as the company grows?

Luke:

Financial planning has become even more key to set our strategy and formalize a clear roadmap for how the business will achieve the set targets. What was once primarily a finance function is now a company-wide responsibility, with every department playing an active role. Clear ownership of costs and targets across the business is essential to ensure financial discipline across the organisation.

Where are you focusing investments this year? Will it remain the same as last year or change?

Our core focus remains on developing high quality slot games. At the same time, we do explore complementary opportunities that extend beyond traditional slots. An example is our recent LivePlay Slots launch in collaboration with Live Play Mobile which brings a new experience with live entertainment. Or other initiatives such as offering tailored branded solutions for our clients. We are also significantly increasing our game cadence, as our 2026 roadmap includes 43% more games than the previous year. This is in addition to our continued commercial efforts such as entering into even more regulated markets.

After eight years in finance, do you see yourself moving into another department in the future?

Luke:

As the company grows, finance remains my core expertise and passion but the role naturally extends to broader business leadership with involvement in other departments or functions. That said, it is very important to have a balanced leadership team that complements each other’s strengths.

What advice would you give startups or CFOs entering the iGaming industry? And what is the most important mindset during a company’s growth phase?

Luke:

Always think one step ahead. Prepare your company today for what you will need in the coming years to allow scalability and achieve your long term goals. Hire the right people, invest early in systems, tools, processes, company structures and infrastructure. Adapting later is much more challenging, time consuming and costly.
