Massachusetts reported a record-breaking $892.2 million in sports betting handle for October, marking an 11.5% increase from September’s previous high and a year-on-year jump of 19.3%. Online wagering dominated total activity, generating $879.2 million in bets compared to $12.6 million placed at retail sportsbooks. The figures, published by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, highlight the continued shift toward mobile betting and strong consumer engagement across the state.
Sports betting revenue for the month reached $71.3 million, up 47.6% from October 2024 and surpassing September by more than a third. While substantial, the figure remained below the state’s all-time high of $96.4 million recorded in January 2025. Online operators contributed $70.7 million in revenue, with retail sportsbooks adding $598,901.
DraftKings extended its lead as the top online operator, reporting $38.5 million in revenue from a $447.4 million handle. FanDuel followed with $17.3 million in revenue, while Fanatics secured third place at $7.5 million. BetMGM, ESPN Bet, Caesars, and Bally Bet rounded out the competitive field with varying levels of performance. In the retail market, Plainridge Park Casino narrowly led with $306,328 in revenue.
The casino sector also delivered strong results, generating $96.9 million in October revenue, driven by $71.7 million from slots and $25.1 million from table games. Encore Boston Harbor remained the market leader, followed by MGM Springfield and Plainridge Park.
Overall, Massachusetts collected $42.1 million in state taxes from gaming and betting combined, underscoring the sustained strength of the state’s regulated gaming environment
