Sandoval is well known for his extensive public service career, which includes serving as Nevada’s 29th governor, the state’s attorney general, and a member of the Nevada Gaming Commission. His experience brings a strong regulatory and governance perspective to the resort, which opened in 2021 following a $4.3 billion investment. Since joining the board earlier this year, Sandoval has been recognized for his strategic vision and understanding of Nevada’s legal and political landscape.
The leadership transition is also influenced by Murren’s expanding global commitments, including his new role as interim chief executive of the UAE’s General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority. His shift to an emeritus position provides continuity while allowing Resorts World to benefit from Sandoval’s more active oversight.
At the same time, the property faces renewed legal challenges after a US appeals court revived a lawsuit involving high-roller Robert “R.J.” Cipriani. In response, the resort has strengthened its legal and compliance infrastructure with new senior appointments.
