The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) were recently honoured by the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) for their exceptional performance in the 2024 evaluation cycle. PAGCOR received a 99.92% Performance Evaluation Scorecard rating and the Sustainability Award for demonstrating exemplary practices in corporate governance and sustainable operations. Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco highlighted the importance of transparency and public service, noting that PAGCOR remitted PHP68.20 billion to support infrastructure, disaster response, and community programs.
Meanwhile, PCSO emerged as the top-ranked GOCC, scoring 100.63% in the 2024 evaluation. The agency’s strong performance reflected efficiency in revenue collection, budget utilisation, customer satisfaction, ISO certification, technology advancement, and adherence to gender equality laws. General Manager Melquiades Robles and Chairman Felix Reyes accepted the award alongside the PCSO Board. Robles was also named a Leadership Award finalist for 2024.
The GCG cited both PAGCOR and PCSO for their measurable delivery of public service outcomes and adherence to governance standards. These awards underscore the agencies’ role in driving social and economic development while maintaining operational excellence. Over the past four years, PCSO has shown a consistent upward trajectory, improving from a 56.3% rating in 2021 to its current top position.
By recognising these accomplishments, the GCG reinforces the importance of transparency, accountability, and public impact among government-owned corporations. PAGCOR and PCSO continue to set benchmarks for governance and sustainable service, demonstrating how strong institutional performance can directly benefit communities and nation-building initiatives.
