The UK Gambling Commission has suspended the operating licence of Estonia-based game developer Spribe OÜ, citing non-compliance with hosting requirements under the Gambling Act 2005. The suspension, effective immediately, prevents the company from conducting any hosting-related activities in the UK until the issue is resolved.
According to Spribe, the suspension resulted from a technical mix-up rather than a regulatory breach. The company explained that it recently learned from the UKGC that an additional hosting licence was required alongside its existing remote operating licence. Spribe has held a UK licence since 2020 and has maintained ongoing compliance with audits, regulatory filings, and transparency obligations.
The UKGC stated that the suspension was enacted on “suitability grounds,” emphasizing that no gambling facilities can be arranged in Great Britain without full authorisation. Spribe has assured partners and clients that it is taking all necessary steps to address the matter and expects to reinstate its licence within a month.
Spribe’s Aviator, one of the most successful crash games globally, remains highly popular across online casinos and betting platforms. While the temporary suspension poses a short-term setback, the company’s rapid and cooperative response demonstrates its intent to maintain regulatory trust and operational integrity.
As Spribe works to resolve the issue, this case serves as a reminder that technical compliance even on minor procedural matters plays a crucial role in sustaining long-term stability within the global iGaming ecosystem.
