Interblock Appoints Kay Oswald as Chief Executive Officer to Lead Its Next Growth Phase
Interblock, the global leader in electronic table gaming products, has appointed Kay Oswald as Chief Executive Officer. The decision by the Board of Directors concludes the comprehensive search announced and ends the interim tenure of Bala Ganesan, Managing Director at Oaktree Capital Management, whose advised investment funds own a majority of the equity interests in the company.
New Interblock CEO Brings 25 Years of Global Operating Experience
Oswald, pronounced “Kai”, arrives with more than 25 years of international leadership across consumer, hardware, and industrial technology businesses. He most recently served as CEO of KOHPA Technologies, a venture-backed industrial technology company, and before that as CEO and Board Member, North America, of Technogym USA Corp, the global leader in luxury fitness equipment.
Originally from Germany and having built his career largely in the United States, Oswald has lived and led teams across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Australia. His background sits in global manufacturing, supply chain, and premium hardware. Not gaming. And that is the interesting part.
Why the Interblock CEO Appointment Points Outside Gaming
The Board did not pick an industry veteran. It picked an operator. David Quick, Oaktree Managing Director and Interblock Board member, described Oswald as “a proven global operator with a track record of building disciplined, scalable businesses” across four continents, adding that the Board is confident he is the right leader to expand Interblock’s footprint across key regions and accelerate innovation in its product portfolio.
Read between those lines and the priority is obvious. Interblock is a hardware business at its core, and Oaktree has chosen a CEO whose entire career has been about scaling premium hardware companies globally. For a supplier competing in a capital-intensive category, manufacturing discipline and supply chain depth may matter more right now than a gaming CV.
Oswald himself called Interblock “an exceptional company” and framed his mandate around operational excellence and stronger customer and partner relationships in every market the company serves. His phrase “this is a new Interblock” is worth noting. Incoming CEOs rarely say that unless the reset is deliberate.
Bala Ganesan Returns to Oaktree After the Interim Period
Ganesan steps back to his full-time role at Oaktree, where he will continue working closely with Interblock to ensure a seamless leadership transition. Quick credited him with strengthening the company’s operating disciplines, leadership bench, and execution, stating that the business Oswald inherits is stronger than at any point in its history.
Ganesan returned the compliment, calling Oswald’s global experience and operational rigour the right fit for the company’s next chapter. The continuity matters. With Oaktree holding majority ownership and Ganesan staying involved from the investor side, this is a structured handover rather than a clean break.

Future Outlook for Interblock Under Its New CEO
The stated agenda gives operators a clear watchlist for the next 12 months. Regional expansion across key markets. Faster product innovation within the ETG portfolio. A sharper operational engine underneath both.
For casino operators and procurement leads, the practical question is what a manufacturing-led CEO does to product roadmaps, delivery timelines, and commercial terms. If Oswald applies the premium hardware playbook he ran at Technogym and KOHPA, expect Interblock to compete harder on reliability and scale, not just cabinet count.
