Exclusive: CEO Dylan Slaney on AI and iGaming’s Future | iGaming News Today

The iGaming industry continues to evolve at an unprecedented pace, driven by technological innovation, changing player expectations, and expanding regulated markets. As businesses navigate this rapidly changing landscape, leadership has become about far more than commercial growth-it requires vision, adaptability, and the ability to inspire teams through constant transformation.

In this exclusive interview with iGaming News Today, Aristocrat Interactive CEO Dylan Slaney shares his perspective on leadership, company culture, AI, player experience, global expansion, and the opportunities shaping the future of the industry.

Q1. You’ve led major business transformations across the iGaming industry – what experiences have shaped your leadership approach the most throughout your journey?

Dylan:

I’ve been fortunate to work across several parts of the gaming ecosystem from content creation to digital platforms to large-scale commercial operations. What shaped me most is learning how to lead through complexity. This industry evolves quickly, and the leaders who succeed are the ones who can bring clarity, focus, and momentum to teams even when the environment is shifting around them.

I’ve also learned the value of listening deeply to your people, our customers and partners. The best transformations aren’t top-down; they’re built by empowering teams, ensuring everyone understands the strategy, removing friction, and creating a culture where people feel confident challenging assumptions and pushing for better outcomes.

Q2. As a CEO, how do you balance fast growth with building a strong company culture and sense of belonging within teams?

Dylan:

Growth is only sustainable when culture scales with it. For me, culture isn’t a slogan, it’s the daily behaviors we reward, the transparency we create, and the way we show up for each other. I truly believe that our people are our superpower – strategy is nothing without belief, and it’s important to empower people and ensure they understand how we can deliver for them, the business and our customers and partners.

I focus on three things:

  • Clarity of purpose, so people understand why their work matters
  • Empowerment, so teams can move quickly without unnecessary hierarchy
  • Belonging, because people do their best work when they feel valued and included

If you get those right, growth becomes a natural outcome rather than something you have to force.

Q3. You often speak about innovation and transformation – what do you think companies need to do today to stay ahead in such a fast-moving industry?

Dylan:

Companies need to be both bold and disciplined. Innovation isn’t about chasing every new idea, it’s about having a clear strategy, investing in the right capabilities, and creating an environment where experimentation is encouraged and failure is treated as learning.

The organisations that win will be the ones that:

  • Build modular, scalable technology
  • Use data intelligently and responsibly to personalize experiences
  • Move with speed and accountability
  • Stay relentlessly focused on the player

Transformation is not a project; it’s a mindset.

Q4. From your perspective, what are the biggest opportunities currently shaping the future of iGaming?

Dylan:

We’re at an inflection point. Several opportunities stand out:

  • Convergence of content and platforms: players want seamless, cross-channel experiences
  • Expansion of regulated markets, particularly in North America and parts of Europe
  • Next-generation personalization, driven by data and AI
  • New forms of entertainment, blending gaming, social interaction, and real-time engagement

The companies that can combine world-class content with flexible, scalable technology will define the next decade of iGaming.

Q5. How important is player experience when it comes to building long-term growth and brand loyalty?

Dylan:

Player experience is everything. In a competitive market, players gravitate toward products that feel intuitive, rewarding, and trustworthy. If you don’t deliver that consistently, they’ll move on quickly.

Long-term growth comes from understanding player motivations, respecting their time, and giving them experiences that feel personal and meaningful. When you get that right, loyalty follows naturally.

Q6. AI and digital innovation are changing every industry – how do you see these technologies impacting iGaming over the next few years?

Dylan:

AI will reshape the industry in three major ways:

  • Personalisation at scale – tailoring content, promotions, and experiences to individual players
  • Operational efficiency – smarter risk management, fraud detection, and automated workflows
  • Enhanced responsible gaming – using predictive models to identify and support at-risk players earlier

The key is to embrace AI as a positive force for change and ensure it is used responsibly. It should enhance player enjoyment and safety, not replace human judgment or creativity.

Q7. With growing geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty across different regions, including the Middle East, do you think this could impact investment, expansion, or growth plans in the iGaming industry going into 2026?

Dylan:

Uncertainty always influences investment decisions, but the iGaming industry has shown remarkable resilience. What we’re seeing is not a slowdown, but a shift toward disciplined, strategic expansion. Operators and suppliers are prioritising markets with clear regulatory frameworks and stable long-term potential.

Regions like the Middle East, Africa, and LATAM are evolving quickly, and while geopolitical dynamics must be considered, the appetite for digital entertainment remains strong. The companies that stay flexible, diversify their portfolios, and invest in compliance will continue to grow even in uncertain times.

Q8. On a personal note, what keeps you motivated and focused while leading businesses through constant change and growth?

Dylan:

I’m motivated by the opportunity to build something meaningful with talented people. This industry never stands still, and that energy drives me. I love solving complex problems, helping teams unlock their potential, and shaping the future of an industry that’s still in the early stages of its digital evolution.

What keeps me grounded is staying connected to the people doing the work, listening, learning, and making sure we’re building a business we can all be proud of.
