Exclusive: Heitor (Hector) Langa on AI, Partnerships and the Future of Global iGaming
As the iGaming industry continues to expand across regulated and emerging markets, sustainable growth depends on far more than innovative products alone. Strong partnerships, operational excellence, cultural understanding, and the ability to adapt to changing technologies are becoming increasingly important for long-term success.
In this exclusive interview with iGaming News Today, TaDa Gaming’s Head of Business – Latin America, Heitor (Hector) Langa shares his journey into the gaming industry, discusses AI, business development, localization, and explains why building trusted relationships remains one of the industry’s greatest competitive advantages.
Q1. How did your journey in iGaming begin?
Hector:
I came to Taiwan in 2018, completed my bachelor’s degree here, and later did my MBA in finance. At the end of my MBA, I was invited to join the company because they were looking for someone driven, eager to take on the challenges of the gaming industry, and equipped with the language skills the role demanded.
Since joining, I have been part of a team focused on delivering a strong product, expanding into western markets, and making sure our games are localized and compliant for each region.
Q2. What is most important when building strong business relationships in iGaming?
Hector:
I believe the most important things are understanding how different cultures work, respecting how people from different regions communicate, and maintaining integrity in business.
Every market has its own dynamics, and communication styles differ significantly across Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America.
So to build a strong partnership, it is important to be transparent, respectful, and focused on long-term relationships rather than short-term results.
Q3. What should companies focus on today if they want to grow successfully in both regulated and emerging markets?
Hector:
Companies should focus not only on sales but also very strongly on operations. A sales team may bring in clients, but if the operational side is not strong enough to support them, the company cannot grow properly.
In today’s market, with so many providers offering comparable products, what truly sets companies apart is the quality of their support, the strength of the relationship with partners, and the ability to genuinely understand and adapt to different cultures.
Q4. How do you think AI could change business growth and player experience in iGaming?
Hector:
I see AI as a positive force, even though we are still grasping the full extent of its impact on the world.
In day-to-day work, AI is already very useful for reports, data analysis, presentations, strategy work, and even language understanding. It frees up time and allows people to focus on higher-value decisions rather than repetitive manual tasks.
At the same time, I believe there are limits, especially when it comes to customer support, because people still seek human connection and empathy when they encounter problems.
Q5. Do you think changing market conditions, uncertainty, and technology could affect growth and expansion plans in the industry?
Hector:
Yes, definitely. Technology, particularly AI, is streamlining many processes and significantly improving efficiency.
New and emerging technology is always a key driver of change in iGaming. Uncertainty will also impact the industry so staying informed and agile is critical.
Q6. What major changes do you expect in iGaming by 2026?
Hector:
I think the industry is going through a transitional phase because many regulated markets are increasing taxes and making conditions heavier for operators and providers. Countries like Brazil, the UK, and Mexico are examples where taxation and regulation are becoming stricter.
I believe companies that are willing to adapt, operate with greater commercial flexibility, maintain strong partnerships, and continue delivering a good product will stand out.
I also think diversification across markets will become more important, and companies will place increasing value on professionals with strong soft skills and cross-cultural awareness.
Q7. How do you personally stay motivated and manage balance outside work?
Hector:
I stay motivated by intentionally making time for things I enjoy outside of work and allowing myself to fully disconnect when I can.
For me, that includes hobbies like fishing, playing video games entirely unrelated to the industry, exercising, and learning through videos on finance, personal development, and other areas that interest me.
These activities help reduce stress and keep me balanced.
My greatest personal motivation, however, is building a family and sharing life with the people I love.
Q8. What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a career in iGaming today?
Hector:
I would say it is not an easy industry to break into-there are plenty of opportunities, but also a lot of seasoned professionals already established in the space.
My advice would be to learn different languages, develop strong soft skills, and not be afraid to put yourself out there and build connections.
It is also important to embrace different cultures, be willing to start from the ground up, stay consistent, and hold yourself to the same standard of work and professionalism you would expect from others.
