The American Gaming Association has confirmed that Louis “Lou” M. Jacobs, Chief Executive Officer of Delaware North, will serve as the chairman of its board from January 2026, succeeding Michael Rumbolz. Jacobs’ appointment brings decades of operational, strategic, and regulatory experience from his work across the hospitality, casino, and digital gaming divisions of Delaware North. His background includes oversight of regional casino assets and expanding digital wagering operations, positioning him to play a key role in advancing the AGA’s policy initiatives.
AGA President and CEO Bill Miller welcomed the decision, emphasising that Jacobs’ deep involvement in both gaming and hospitality makes him an ideal leader for the association’s next phase. Miller highlighted that Jacobs’ long-standing board membership will strengthen the organisation’s ability to engage with lawmakers and regulatory bodies at a time when the industry continues to expand rapidly. He also recognised outgoing chairman Michael Rumbolz for his steady leadership during a transformative period for legal sports betting and iGaming in the United States.
The leadership change comes as the AGA releases new data showing improved sentiment across the gaming industry. Executives reported stronger financial performance in the third quarter, including rising revenues, healthier balance sheets, and increased consumer activity. Promotional spending has also begun to decline, indicating improved market efficiency and reduced pressure to compete with costly incentives.
Separately, the AGA’s October survey revealed that 57 percent of U.S. adults participated in some form of gambling over the past year, marking the highest level ever recorded. Public trust in responsible gaming practices has also risen significantly, with 64 percent of Americans acknowledging the industry’s efforts. Jacobs steps into the role at a pivotal time, with the industry showing renewed momentum heading into 2026.
