Borstedt takes up the position in September 2026, joining Svenska Spel’s Group Management and reporting directly to President and CEO Anna Johnson. These include Chief People & Culture Officer at Proxify and Director of Growth at Northvolt, alongside leadership positions at Ahlstrom-Munksjö and Munksjö. She also worked as a consultant at PwC and Deloitte, focusing on organisational design and HR transformation.
Svenska Spel said that experience will be important as the company continues developing its organisation, leadership and working methods.
“I am very pleased to welcome Katarina to Svenska Spel. She has broad experience in leading HR and organisational issues in companies undergoing change and building for growth,” said Anna Johnson, President and CEO of Svenska Spel.
Johnson said Borstedt’s expertise would support the company’s continued development with a focus on sustainable growth, customer satisfaction and corporate culture, adding that Borstedt will play a central role in strengthening the organisation, leadership and working methods, as well as leading transformation.
Borstedt Points to Brand, Games and Purpose
Commenting on her appointment, Borstedt highlighted Svenska Spel’s brand, games and purpose of giving back to society.
“I hope to contribute with my experience of developing organisations, leadership and working methods in growth and change journeys,” Borstedt said.
She added that her approach to HR centres on creating the conditions for employees and leaders to develop, with the customer and the business as the starting point, and said she is looking forward to working with her new colleagues at Svenska Spel.

Leadership Transition Set for September 2026
In connection with the appointment, Joakim Karlsson, who has been serving in the role on an acting basis, will return to his regular position as Head of Talent Acquisition & Tech.
The transition places Borstedt’s experience in organisational development and transformation within the company’s Group Management structure.
