The Lottery Corporation CFO Adam Newman to Step Down on 1 July 2027 as Board Begins Succession Process

The Lottery Corporation CFO Adam Newman Steps Down in 2027 | iGaming News Today

The Lottery Corporation (ASX: TLC) has announced that Chief Financial Officer Adam Newman intends to step down and will leave the company on 1 July 2027. In its market announcement, the company said Newman will remain in the role until that date to provide continuity while the Board appoints his successor.

The announcement was authorised for release by the Board of The Lottery Corporation on 7 October 2026. Rather than a sudden change, it sets out an orderly, long-dated transition that the company says is designed to preserve continuity through to the handover.

The Lottery Corporation confirms a planned CFO transition

Newman has advised the Board of his intention to step down, with his final day set for 1 July 2027. He will stay in the role through to that date, supporting continuity while a successor is appointed.

The framing is deliberate. This is a managed, long-dated handover rather than an immediate exit, and the company has positioned it that way from the outset.

Adam Newman’s record as TLC CFO since 2022

The company said Newman has led TLC’s finance function since 2022, a period that covers its most formative years as an independent business. That window includes the demerger from Tabcorp and the establishment of TLC as a standalone listed company.

More recently, according to the release, he led the company’s inaugural Australian debt raising. The company said this supported the funding of the Victorian Public Lottery Licence extension and strengthened its financial flexibility.

TLC CEO Wayne Pickup and Adam Newman on the handover

Managing Director and CEO Wayne Pickup said: “Adam has made a significant contribution to TLC since the demerger from Tabcorp, helping to establish the Company as a standalone ASX-listed business and building the financial foundations to support our long-term success through a period of significant change.”

He added: “On behalf of the Board and the executive team, I thank Adam for his leadership and contribution to TLC and wish him every success in the next chapter of his career.”

Newman said: “It has been a privilege to help build TLC as a listed company and to work with the finance team, the executive and the Board. I’m proud of what we have achieved and remain committed to supporting a smooth handover to my successor.”

Adam Newman to pursue a portfolio career after leaving TLC

The company said Newman has decided to pursue a portfolio career, including board and non-executive director roles, drawing on his extensive executive experience across a range of industries.

That next chapter is what sets the timeline. With his plans already clear, Newman has given the Board a long runway rather than a short notice period, which is unusual for a sitting CFO at a listed company.

What comes next for The Lottery Corporation’s CFO succession?

The immediate open question is who takes the role, and whether the Board looks inside its existing finance team or to the external market. The announcement does not name a successor or set out a shortlist, so the search process itself is the next milestone to watch.

What is clear from the release is the approach. By keeping Newman in post until 1 July 2027, TLC has put financial continuity around funding, reporting and investor relations at the centre of how it manages the change.
