Evolution is raising red flags over the fairness of OECD’s labour complaint process.
Evolution has submitted formal concerns to the OECD’s Responsible Business Conduct unit over the handling of a labour complaint by Sweden’s National Contact Point (NCP). The complaint originated from a 2024 strike in Georgia and accused Evolution of poor working conditions and anti-union behavior. Although Evolution claims it provided detailed counter-evidence disproving all allegations, the NCP still issued recommendations against the company.
CEO Martin Carlesund criticized the process as flawed, one-sided, and reputationally damaging despite Evolution’s full cooperation. He warned that the OECD’s non-binding process could unfairly stigmatize compliant companies and called for urgent reforms to ensure transparency, neutrality, and due process.
Evolution has now elevated the issue to the OECD’s central headquarters, questioning whether the current system upholds its own democratic principles.
