Florida is fighting to preserve its tribal-led sports betting framework.
The Attorney General’s office has filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit by Protect the Constitution LLC, which argues the 2021 gaming compact with the Seminole Tribe is unconstitutional without a public vote.
Florida counters that the compact falls outside the 2018 constitutional amendment, as tribal agreements are exempt and sports betting isn’t classified as “casino gambling.”
The decision could redefine how states interpret sports betting legality in compact structures—impacting regulatory precedents across the U.S.
