MGM China has issued a formal warning regarding a fraudulent deepfake video that impersonates the company’s chairperson and executive director, Pansy Ho. The AI-generated content promotes a fictitious investment scheme, falsely promising investors extraordinary returns. The Macau-based operator confirmed that neither the company nor Ho has ever been involved in, authorised, or endorsed the purported plan.

The operator strongly condemned the acts of impersonation and misrepresentation, stating that legal action may be taken against the individuals or groups responsible. MGM China emphasised that all official updates and communications are released exclusively through verified channels, and the public and media should exercise caution when encountering unverified information.

This warning underscores the growing threat posed by deepfake technology, which enables fraudsters to create highly convincing but entirely fabricated content. Such scams often target high-profile business figures, exploiting their reputation to lend credibility to illegitimate schemes.

MGM China advised the public not to believe or circulate the fraudulent content to avoid potential legal and financial consequences. The operator remains committed to lawful and compliant operations, reinforcing that the company and its leadership have no association with the investment claims featured in the deepfake video.

The incident aligns with warnings from international authorities, including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNDOC), which notes that AI technology is increasingly used in illicit schemes across Southeast Asia. As deepfake technology advances, vigilance and verification of information through official sources remain critical for both investors and industry stakeholders.

MGM China’s alert serves as a reminder of the importance of cybersecurity, responsible communication, and proactive legal measures to safeguard corporate reputation and protect stakeholders from emerging AI-driven fraud threats.
