The celebrity draft party is the headline; the account-linking requirement before NFL season is the actual strategy.

BetMGM and Marriott Bonvoy have revived their Vegas Fantasy Draft sweepstake, offering one winner and 11 guests a Las Vegas draft weekend hosted by actor and comedian Rob Riggle. The BetMGM Vegas Fantasy Draft party will take place inside the BetMGM Sportsbook at ARIA Resort & Casino, with Riggle providing commentary as picks are made. Opt-in closes Friday 31 July, and entry requires linked BetMGM and Marriott Bonvoy accounts. It caps a busy stretch of consumer-facing moves from the operator, which also named Esther “E-Tay” Taylor as its poker ambassador earlier this year.

Why the BetMGM Vegas Fantasy Draft matters now

Timing does most of the work here. The promotion lands weeks before NFL kickoff, the single most contested customer-acquisition window in US sports betting. Rather than leading with bonus value, BetMGM is leading with an experience, and one built to pull in a group of 12 rather than an individual. “Creating legendary experiences for our players is at the core of what we do,” said Matt Prevost, BetMGM Chief Revenue Officer, who noted the company is building on last year’s edition. So this is now a repeat format, not a one-off stunt.

What the sweepstake actually involves

The prize covers round-trip flights for up to 12 guests, a two-night stay at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection, and $4,000 of MGM Resorts credit usable on dining and spa. To enter, BetMGM players opt in through the Promotions section of the app by 31 July and link their Marriott Bonvoy and BetMGM accounts. Qualifying play then builds entries, one for each $10 wagered, up to a ceiling of 25. No purchase is necessary, entrants must be 21 or over, and the offer excludes New York, Nevada, Ontario and Puerto Rico.

Worth noting against the 2025 edition, announced via PRNewswire last July: Matt Ryan hosted that one, and the package ran to three nights at The Cosmopolitan, a Mayfair Supper Club dinner and $6,000 in resort credit, with a simpler mechanic of up to three entries. The headline prize is leaner this year, but the wager-linked entry route gives active players far more chances. A different trade, not necessarily a smaller bet on the format.

The operator read

The sweepstake sits on top of the rewards integration BetMGM and Marriott Bonvoy launched in 2024, which lets players in licensed states convert BetMGM Rewards into Marriott Bonvoy points, capped at 1 million a year and redeemable across a portfolio of 30-plus hotel brands worldwide. Every entrant this promo converts into a linked account deepens that ecosystem. It also fits a wider pattern of BetMGM refreshing what sits behind the front door, much like its recent reimagining of Borgata Online for US iGaming. For rival operators, the lesson is uncomfortable: a hospitality-backed loyalty currency is hard to match with free bets, and BetMGM’s 31-market footprint gives the format room to run. That’s the editorial read, to be clear. BetMGM hasn’t published linking or retention figures.

The caveat worth naming

Neither year’s announcement discloses performance data, so the promo’s actual commercial impact remains unproven publicly. The shift to a wager-based entry mechanic also warrants the scrutiny any betting-linked sweepstake attracts; BetMGM points to its responsible gambling tools, including GameSense, licensed from the British Columbia Lottery Corporation.

Future outlook

The safe expectation is that this becomes an annual fixture. A second consecutive running, a named celebrity host and a stated intent to build on last year all point that way. Watch whether BetMGM extends the format beyond the NFL, since the loyalty plumbing works year-round, and whether competitors respond with hospitality tie-ups of their own.

If the industry spends the autumn arguing about anything, it may be this: whether experiences, not bonuses, are now the sharper acquisition tool.
