Missouri is preparing for its December 1 sports betting launch, with sportsbooks lining up for entry and regulators finalizing key decisions. Fanatics secured access through Boyd Gaming’s Ameristar casinos, while DraftKings and Circa were granted two highly valuable untethered licenses. In a surprise move, regulators passed over FanDuel, despite its major contributions to Missouri’s legalization campaign.

The Missouri Gaming Commission explained that Circa’s distinct low-hold, high-wager model could bring a unique player segment and additional tax revenue to the state. This creates a diverse marketplace ahead of launch. Meanwhile, FanDuel partnered with MLS side St. Louis CITY SC to maintain market entry.

The deadline for tethered license applications is September 12, with 14 online licenses still available. With Missouri set to tax revenue at 10%, the state is positioning itself for strong returns from one of the U.S.’s most sports-passionate regions.
