DAZN Acquires LATAM Basketball Streaming Service BASKET.TV to Expand Its Basketball Rights Portfolio
DAZN has acquired BASKET.TV, a basketball streaming service operating primarily across Latin America. The move deepens the group’s footprint in a priority region and expands its growing basketball rights portfolio. The acquisition was announced from London on 12 October 2026.
The deal gives DAZN an established regional platform rather than another single-rights agreement. It brings together BASKET.TV’s audience, its match catalogue and its technology under DAZN, and follows the global broadcast of the FIBA Women’s World Cup on Courtside 1891 on DAZN.
What the BASKET.TV acquisition brings to DAZN
Founded as a specialist basketball streaming service in 2020, BASKET.TV serves hundreds of thousands of users across Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Uruguay.
The platform broadcasts around 4,900 matches each season across more than 300 teams. Coverage spans top-tier domestic leagues in its markets plus selected international club competitions.
How BASKET.TV strengthens DAZN’s basketball rights portfolio
The deal adds to a portfolio DAZN has been building steadily. It already includes the NBA and select teams, NCAA college basketball, Super League Basketball, LNB Élite, Liga Endesa and Copa del Rey, alongside its multi-year FIBA partnership and the FIBA Media joint venture.
In the US, DAZN has also entered local rights partnerships covering teams including the Indiana Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies, Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards and Washington Mystics.
How the BASKET.TV deal expands DAZN’s Latin America footprint
Latin America is a priority market for DAZN, and this deal broadens its footprint there in a single move. A platform already reaching hundreds of thousands of users across six countries gives the group an immediate regional base.
Owning the distribution platform, not just the rights running through it, puts DAZN closer to the fan relationship and the data that comes with it.
What DAZN CEO Shay Segev said about the BASKET.TV acquisition
The group’s leadership framed the acquisition as both a basketball and a growth play.
Shay Segev, CEO of DAZN Group:
“BASKET.TV has built a high-quality basketball platform with top-tier domestic rights, deep market expertise and an impressive technology operation. This acquisition significantly strengthens our global basketball proposition and supports our broader growth ambitions across Latin America. Together, we’ll create great value for fans, leagues and partners while continuing to grow the sport around the world.”
How the BASKET.TV acquisition fits DAZN’s wider basketball strategy
Coming shortly after DAZN’s Portuguese basketball launch and its Super League Basketball extension, this acquisition fits a clear pattern. DAZN is assembling basketball coverage region by region, and in LATAM it has chosen to buy a platform rather than license its way in.
For rights holders and streaming operators, the signal is that DAZN wants to be the default home for basketball in the markets it enters. The pace of its recent deals suggests more regional moves are likely to follow.
