JCM Reports ¥10.28B Sales, Up 35%, as Gaming Segment Growth Hits 53% in North America
Japan Cash Machine released its results for the quarter ended 30 June 2026 on 6 August 2026, and the numbers are strong. For the three months to 30 June 2026, its first quarter of the financial year ending March 2027, the money-handling supplier reported net sales of ¥10,280 million, up 35.1% year on year, with operating profit of ¥1,624 million, up 268.2%. Profit attributable to owners of parent reached ¥1,587 million, against just ¥76 million a year earlier, lifting basic earnings per share to ¥58.52 from ¥2.83.
The headline figures tell one story. The segment breakdown tells a sharper one. JCM makes the parts inside gaming machines, so its order book reads like a thermometer for land-based spending, and this quarter it ran hot. The Global Gaming segment posted sales of ¥7,573 million, up 53.4%, and segment profit of ¥2,097 million, up 97.7%, on North American demand for gaming-machine components. That is the number worth reading closely, because it reflects casinos actually buying hardware rather than a one-off accounting gain.
Why a parts supplier’s numbers move the whole floor
JCM does not run casinos. It makes the components inside them, including bill validators, note recyclers and printer units. That position matters. A parts supplier grows only when its customers are buying, and casino operators buy hardware when they are refreshing or expanding their floors. So a strong quarter here is not a marketing line. It is evidence that the North American floor is in an investment phase. Operators and machine manufacturers are the customers, and they were spending.
The one segment that carried the entire quarter
The consolidated result was strong across the board. Operating profit tripled. But the growth was not evenly spread. The Global Gaming segment did the heavy lifting, with sales up 53.4% and segment profit up 97.7%, driven by higher sales of bill validator and printer units for gaming machines in North America. International Commercial also turned around, swinging to a ¥25 million segment profit from a ¥335 million loss a year earlier as European orders recovered. The domestic side was the drag. Domestic Commercial sales fell 43.5% and Equipment for the Amusement Industry fell 34.1%, both swinging to small losses.
What operators should actually do with this number
Here is the operator read. The Global Gaming segment nearly doubling its profit tells content and operations teams that the land-based supply chain is running hot on the gaming side. For anyone budgeting a cabinet refresh or negotiating with a machine manufacturer, that is a demand-side data point worth logging. Component suppliers are seeing real pull, and that tends to firm up lead times and pricing. The recovery in International Commercial adds a second read. The European self-checkout and commercial payment side is stabilising after a soft year.
The 615% profit line that is mostly a mirage
Now the honest part. Ordinary profit rose 615.2% to ¥1,869 million, a number that looks spectacular and mostly is not. JCM states that the jump came largely from foreign exchange gains on a weaker yen. The average rate moved to ¥156.47 to the dollar from ¥151.22 a year earlier, and ¥183.60 to the euro from ¥159.38. That is a currency tailwind, not core trading strength, and it can reverse. Read the ordinary-profit line with that context, and lean on the segment figures for the underlying demand story.

The real question for the next two quarters
JCM held its full-year forecast unchanged at ¥39,000 million in net sales and ¥3,000 million in operating profit, the same guidance it issued on 13 May 2026. Holding forecast after a quarter this strong signals steadiness rather than a raised bar, and it leaves room for the FX tailwind to normalise across the year. The question now is whether North American gaming demand holds at this pace or settles back to trend. If the segment stays strong, the land-based investment cycle has legs. If it cools, the first quarter was the peak.
