Catena Media Appoints Martin Zetterlund as Interim CTO
Catena Media announced on 16 September 2026 that it has appointed Martin Zetterlund as interim chief technology officer, effective 17 September 2026. He will lead the group’s technology function and report to CEO Manuel Stan, stepping in under a consultancy agreement while the affiliate group recruits a permanent chief.
The detail worth noting: he hasn’t come from an external shortlist. He’s come from Catena Media’s own boardroom.
Martin Zetterlund named Catena Media interim CTO
The appointment takes effect on 17 September 2026. Zetterlund leads the group’s technology function and reports directly to CEO Manuel Stan.
The assignment runs under a consultancy agreement, in place until a permanent chief technology officer takes up the role.
How the interim CTO consultancy agreement works
This isn’t a permanent executive contract. It’s a consultancy arrangement, and it runs only until a permanent CTO is in place.
Catena Media has confirmed the recruitment process for that permanent role is ongoing. In short, the group gets a working technology lead now, without committing to a permanent hire before the search concludes.
Zetterlund’s board role and technology background
Zetterlund doesn’t arrive as an outsider. He has sat on Catena Media’s board of directors since December 2024, and he stays on the board through the assignment.
His track record sits firmly in technology and security:
- Co-founded and led Sentor Managed Security Services
- Founded ScrapeSentry
- Held senior positions at Distil Networks and Accenture
- Works as an investor and adviser in cybersecurity and technology ventures
What Catena Media’s CEO said about the appointment
For CEO Manuel Stan, Zetterlund’s familiarity with the business was the point.
“Martin has followed our technology work closely from the board and knows the organisation well. His experience of building and running technology businesses will support the team while we complete the recruitment of a permanent CTO.”
What’s next for Catena Media’s CTO search
The technology function now has a leader with board-level context and a direct line to the CEO.
What’s still open is the permanent appointment. Catena Media confirms that search is ongoing, though the release sets no timeline for when the role will be filled.
The group is headquartered in Malta and listed on Nasdaq Stockholm Small Cap under the ticker CTM, employing over 150 people globally.
