The Swedish Gambling Authority, Spelinspektionen, has banned Yomoly Ltd after discovering the company offered online casino and betting services to Swedish players without a national licence. This latest action highlights Sweden’s strict approach toward unlicensed gambling activity and reinforces its commitment to ensuring a secure, regulated gaming environment.

In its statement, the authority clarified that the decision aims to maintain fair competition and protect Swedish players by ensuring that only licensed operators can offer gambling services in the country. Yomoly joins a growing list of offshore firms, including Bitx Operations and Ryker BV, that have been prohibited from targeting Swedish customers.

The move comes as Sweden reviews its Gambling Act to address enforcement challenges related to offshore activity. The proposed legislative changes would shift the law from a “directional criterion” based on language or currency to a “participant-based approach.” Under this framework, any gambling accessible to players in Sweden would automatically fall under Swedish jurisdiction, regardless of the operator’s location.

This tightening of regulations represents a clear warning to unlicensed operators and affiliates. Spelinspektionen continues to prioritise transparency, responsible gaming, and compliance within its oversight strategy. The authority’s ongoing enforcement actions, including previous bans on Curaçao-based companies such as Altacore NV and Liquid Entertainment NV, demonstrate an unwavering focus on player safety and market integrity.

By publicly announcing these bans, Sweden aims to deter future violations and strengthen confidence in its regulated gambling system. As the country moves toward stricter compliance requirements, both operators and affiliates are expected to take greater responsibility for adhering to national standards.
