Brite Payments Appoints Mickael Marceau as SVP Gaming & Financial Services to Lead European Expansion
Brite Payments has appointed Mickael Marceau as Senior Vice President – Gaming & Financial Services, a role in which he will lead the company’s commercial efforts in gaming and financial services as it continues to expand across Europe. The appointment brings operator-side payments experience into a fintech that counts gaming operators among its core merchant base.
Why Brite Payments Hired an iGaming Operator Insider
Marceau arrives with nearly two decades of experience in online payments, iGaming, and payment operations. Most recently he served as Director of Product Growth & Strategy at FDJ UNITED. Before that, he spent 11 years at Kindred Group in senior leadership roles, including Director of Payment Solutions and Head of Payments, where he led the company’s payment strategy across global markets. His background also includes significant leadership roles at BetClic Everest Group.
That pedigree is the story here. Brite is not hiring a fintech generalist, it is hiring someone who has run payments from inside major gaming operators.
What Marceau’s Remit Means for Brite Payments in Gaming
Announced on 22 September 2026, the appointment tasks Marceau with leading Brite’s commercial presence in gaming and financial services as the company scales across key European markets. Brite enables instant account-to-account (A2A) payments and payouts, also known as Pay by Bank, by leveraging Europe’s open banking infrastructure.
In his own words, Marceau framed the appeal from an operator’s viewpoint:
“Having spent years on the operator side, I know firsthand how critical fast, reliable, and frictionless payment experiences are for driving customer acquisition, retention, and operational efficiency. I’ve watched Brite’s growth up close, and I know how well its products solve real operational challenges for merchants. The company’s team is setting the standard for open banking payments, and I’m excited to jump in and lead our expansion in gaming and financial services.”
How This Appointment Signals Brite’s Open Banking Ambitions
Brite has been recognised as one of Sweden’s fastest-growing fintechs and won ‘Best Open Banking Initiative’ at the Europe FinTech Awards 2026. The company says it is expanding its industry-specific leadership to support a growing European merchant base, and Marceau’s hire fits that pattern: bring in leaders who understand a specific vertical’s operational pain, then sell into it with credibility.
Lena Hackelöer, Founder & CEO of Brite Payments, positioned the hire against the company’s growth stage:
“Mickael joins us at a major inflection point for Brite as we expand our coverage and deliver complete instant payment solutions across key European markets. He brings invaluable operator insights and a deep understanding of what merchants and end-users need from a modern payment provider. Mickael’s experience in optimising high-volume payment ecosystems will be essential as we scale our commercial presence and reinforce Brite’s leadership in open banking payments.”
The Scale Behind Brite Payments’ European Push
Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Stockholm, Brite Payments operates across 27 European markets with connections to over 3,800 banks, using local payment rails, open banking, and its own proprietary infrastructure, the Brite Instant Payments Network (IPN). That footprint is the backdrop against which the gaming and financial services expansion will play out, and it sets a high operational bar for the commercial leadership Marceau now heads.
What Does This Mean for iGaming Operators Weighing Payment Partners?
For gaming operators, the signal is that Brite intends to compete for their business with people who have sat in their seat. An operator-native commercial lead can shorten the distance between what a payments provider offers and what an operator actually needs from customer acquisition to payout reliability. The real test will be whether that operator instinct translates into measurable wins across Brite’s 27 markets, and that is what merchants should watch as the expansion unfolds.
