ReferOn Announces Completion of Management Buyout Under CEO Alex Bukin

ReferOn Completes Management Buyout as Alex Bukin Becomes CEO | iGaming News Today

Affiliate infrastructure is becoming a far bigger part of the global iGaming business than it was even a few years ago, and ReferOn’s latest ownership move reflects how important the sector is starting to become.

The affiliate management platform has completed a management buyout, with former General Manager Alex Bukin officially acquiring the business and stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer as the company moves into its next stage of independent growth.

The transition follows a period of steady expansion for ReferOn, which has continued building its position within the affiliate technology space through tracking systems, automation tools and partner-management infrastructure designed for both operators and affiliates.

According to company figures, ReferOn generated 35.7 million clicks, 2.4 million registrations, 18,000 affiliates and 136,000 active trackers during its first 12 months in operation, numbers that highlight how quickly the platform has scaled since launch.

Leadership Transition Focuses on Long-Term Growth

Bukin described the buyout as a significant moment for the company’s future direction.

“This is an important moment for ReferOn and the beginning of a new chapter for the business,” he said while discussing the company’s long-term plans.

He added that independent ownership would allow the business to maintain stronger strategic focus while continuing to invest in product development, platform flexibility and operational expansion across key markets.

The company also confirmed that existing partnerships and day-to-day operations will continue without disruption following the ownership transition.

At the same time, ReferOn has kept its broader leadership structure in place while expanding responsibilities for senior executives internally.

Alongside Bukin’s appointment as CEO:

  • Vlad Bondarenko has moved into the role of Chief Product Officer
  • David Harris has been appointed Chief Operations Officer

The overall restructure appears designed more around continuity and long-term scaling rather than major organisational change.

Affiliate Platforms Are Becoming More Important Across iGaming

The wider significance of the move goes beyond ReferOn itself.

Affiliate infrastructure is becoming increasingly strategic as operators continue investing more heavily in scalable acquisition channels, performance marketing and real-time reporting systems across regulated gaming markets.

In many regions, affiliate partnerships now sit at the centre of customer acquisition strategies, particularly as competition intensifies and player acquisition costs continue rising.

That shift is increasing demand for platforms capable of offering:

  • automated tracking
  • flexible reporting systems
  • transparent commission structures
  • scalable partner management
  • stronger security infrastructure

ReferOn has continued expanding across several of those areas.

The platform recently introduced additional functionality including Refie, its built-in interface layer, alongside Independent Deal Calculation (IDC), Company Grouping tools, sub-affiliation systems, enhanced two-factor authentication and mobile optimisation features.

These types of operational tools are becoming more valuable as affiliate ecosystems grow more complex and operators look for greater efficiency across multiple partner relationships.

Competition Across Affiliate Technology Is Increasing

The affiliate platform sector itself is also becoming much more competitive.

As operators expand across more jurisdictions, affiliate systems are evolving beyond basic tracking software into broader infrastructure supporting reporting, segmentation, compliance and performance management at scale.

That creates larger long-term opportunities for technology providers capable of supporting both operators and large affiliate networks simultaneously.

ReferOn’s decision to move toward independent expansion appears aimed at positioning the company more aggressively within that evolving market landscape.

The broader industry direction is becoming increasingly clear.

Affiliate infrastructure is no longer simply operating in the background of iGaming.

It is becoming a much more central part of how operators grow, scale and compete globally.
