Betsson Group Launches Its Flagship Betsson Brand in Belgium as betFIRST Is Rebranded

Betsson Launches Flagship Brand in Belgium, Rebrands betFIRST | iGaming News Today

Betsson Group has launched its flagship brand, Betsson, in Belgium, converting the operation formerly trading as betFIRST. On 05 October 2026, the Group confirmed the rebrand as another step in its international expansion and a move to strengthen Betsson as one of the industry’s leading global brands.

The launch brings the former betFIRST business under the globally recognised Betsson brand. Betsson Group acquired betFIRST in June 2023, and the operation now moves to the flagship brand while keeping its existing position in the Belgian market.

How the Betsson Belgium launch fits the Group’s international expansion

Betsson Group says the move strengthens its position in regulated markets and reflects an ambition to drive greater consistency, scalability and brand recognition across its international operations.

It also follows an established pattern. The Group states the Belgian rebrand comes after similar successful brand migrations across several European markets in recent years, which places Belgium as the latest operation to be aligned under the flagship Betsson brand.

Jesper Svensson, CEO of Betsson Operations, commented:
“This rebrand is a natural next step in our journey. By aligning our presence under the Betsson brand, we can unlock broader marketing synergies, strengthen our global identity, and continue delivering the high-quality experience that our customers know and trust.”

What the betFIRST to Betsson rebrand means for Belgian customers

betFIRST, founded in 2011, had built a strong position in the Belgian market before Betsson Group acquired it in June 2023. The rebrand continues under the existing Belgian licence, which the Group says ensures continuity for customers.

Alongside that continuity, customers gain the benefits of the wider Betsson ecosystem. The Group cites platform upgrades, refreshed mobile apps, Betsson-branded live casino content, exclusive games, and access to international partnerships and fan engagement opportunities.

How Betsson and Betsson.sport will work as separate brands

The Belgian rebrand does not combine Betsson’s two consumer-facing brands into one. Belgian sports fans may already recognise Betsson.sport, which has been featured since June 2025 through the Group’s main sponsorship of Club Brugge, across both the club’s international and local league presence.

The two brands will stay separate, each with its own role. Betsson is the Group’s gaming and betting brand, while Betsson.sport is a standalone sports infotainment platform focused on content, news, scores and fan engagement.

How Betsson is building brand recognition across regulated markets

By aligning Belgium under the flagship brand, Betsson is extending the marketing synergies and consistent global identity it has pursued across its international operations. The Group frames this as a way to strengthen brand recognition in regulated markets while maintaining the trusted products and services customers already use.

That approach is reinforced by its wider marketing strategy. The Group points to high-profile sports partnerships such as Boca Juniors and Racing Club in Argentina, Inter in Italy and Atlético Nacional in Colombia, which it says increase global brand visibility while creating local value through exclusive content and cross-market campaigns.

What the Belgian launch means for Betsson’s wider European footprint

For Betsson, Belgium becomes another market aligned under one global identity, following a strategy the Group has now applied across multiple European markets. The approach keeps licences and customer continuity intact while bringing acquired operations under group-wide scale, positioning the Belgian business to benefit from the strength of the broader Betsson brand.
