The Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) has officially enacted sweeping updates to its advertising and marketing rules for licensed operators. Effective August 1st, these new regulations aim to protect youth and individuals at risk of problem gambling by banning all advertising on college campuses including student newspapers and media.
Operators must now include approved responsible gambling messages in all promotions, provide easy opt-outs, and maintain advertising logs for compliance purposes. Third-party affiliate deals tied to wagering volume or outcomes are also prohibited.

With these changes, Illinois is aligning all sectors casino, sports betting, and video gaming under one standard of ethical and responsible marketing.
